One of my favorite hymns is titled "Lord, I Would Follow Thee."
The fourth verse, in particular, touches my heart:
Savior, may I love my brother
As I know thou lovest me,
Find in thee my strength, my beacon,
For thy servant I would be.
Savior, may I love my brother--
Lord, I would follow thee.
"My strength, my beacon ..." I love the use of the word "beacon." A beacon is a stream of light, a touchstone upon which we can count.
This I know for sure: the Lord is my beacon.
For me, it is important that the Savior is the beam of light that shines through the darkness. There seems to be so much darkness.
